Used cooking oil collection for fish and chip shops
A frying range is a different problem to a fryer: more oil, changed more often, and far too heavy to lift. Wheeled containers, weekly rounds, and a collector who turns up before the range is cold.
A frying range holds far more oil than a standard fryer and gets changed far more often, so a chip shop can generate in a week what a cafe manages in three months. That changes the problem entirely: the question is not where to put a drum, it is how to move 240 litres without anyone lifting it, and how to make sure the container is never the reason you cannot change the oil.
What makes fish and chip shops different
Volume that outgrows drums
A 240 litre wheelie bin rolls out to the van on collection day and a clean empty rolls back in. Nobody carries anything, and the range can be changed on your schedule rather than around the container.
Dripping and beef fat
We take solid fats as well as liquid oil: beef dripping, lard and the mixed fats that come off a range. It does not need to be liquid when we collect it.
Volume means it should pay properly
At chip shop volumes the rate matters. Your oil is measured in front of your staff on every visit, so the figure you are paid on is one you have watched being taken.
Typical volume
A single-range shop typically produces 100 to 200 litres a week. Two ranges or a busy seaside-style trade can push past 300.
Not sure where you sit? Pick "Not sure" on the form and we will size it up on the first visit.
What fish and chip shops ask most
What types of oil do you collect?
All used cooking oils and kitchen fats: vegetable, sunflower, rapeseed and olive oils, fryer and pan oil, beef dripping, lard and ghee. We do not collect engine oil, motor oil, hydraulic oil or other industrial oils. If you are unsure, send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will confirm.
Do you provide drums or containers?
Yes, free of charge and sized to your kitchen: 25 litre and 60 litre sealed drums, 240 litre wheelie bins for high-volume fryers, and IBCs of up to 1,000 litres for food producers. The 25 litre drum suits cafes and smaller kitchens, and we pay per litre on it just the same. We swap every container for a clean empty at each collection, so there are no leaks, no smells and nothing for your team to clean.
How quickly can you start?
Fast. We typically call you back within minutes of your enquiry, your first collection is normally next day, and if you are urgent (an overflowing drum, an inspection tomorrow) call before noon and we will do everything we can to get to you the same day. After that you are on a fixed day every week or fortnight, with extra pickups on the same flexible basis.
